10 Places to Enjoy Holiday Lights

Gather the family and marvel in the sparkle of the season!

From toddlers to teens, it seems everyone can appreciate what tiny, colorful bulbs can do to a dark sky during the holiday season. Some adorn buildings, some are shaped like animals and others are woven through nature, but all of these holiday light displays are sure to bring your family together for a little extra warmth on a cold night.

Winter WonderLights at The Wildlife Experience

Stroll an outdoor trail of lights, visit with Santa Claus and live reindeer and learn about favorite winter animals. Afterward, visit the Extreme Screen Theater for a showing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. $9 adult, $8 senior, $6 age 3–12, free age 2 and under. Purchase tickets online.


Trail of Lights at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield

Wind through a forest path of lights. Visit three themed areas including a winter wonderland with children’s play area and a tree house and an area featuring a tractor, Model-T display and restored 1880s Hildebrand Ranch homestead. Zoo Lights at the Denver Zoo

Find more than 38 acres of lights, 150 animated animal sculptures, animal viewing opportunities, holiday music, warming stations and refreshments. $8 adult, $6 seniors, $4 ages 3–11, free age 2 and under. $2 discount for zoo members.


Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanic Gardens, York Street

View colored lights in elegant designs, featuring romantic kissing spots, entertainment on select nights, ice sculptures and illuminated Henry Moore sculptures along the path. The Shop at the Gardens will also be open. $9.50 adult, $7.50 student/senior, $6.50 children, free age 3 and under.


Living Lights at the Butterfly Pavilion

See thousands of lights illuminating the indoor tropical rainforest and outdoor gardens, for the first time this year. Discover outdoor lighted sculptures, “dancing butterfly” lights on the building’s exterior, witness ice carving, special exhibits on fireflies in Colorado, scorpions and their bioluminescence and more. Crafts and other entertainment offered each night of the exhibit. No reservations required. $10 adult, $8 senior, $6 ages 2–12, free under age 2.

Travel downtown to see lights illuminating many prominent city landmarks, including the Denver City and County Building (1437 Bannock St.), Union Station (1701 Wynkoop St.) and Skyline Park (16th and Arapahoe St.), and the historic D and F Tower. Free.
