My older girl draws
Making distinct shapes
With a story she tells
Of Miyazaki’s soot sprites
From a movie “Spirited Away”.
.
A friend of hers draws,
Scribbling repetitive lines
With his two year old hand
While repeating her letters
As she spells certain words.
.1
My baby girl sleeps upstairs,
Unaware of anything
Except her soft breaths
And sweet fuzzy dreams,
Steeped in contentment.
.
I sit to write nearby,
Enjoying the happy chatter
And blossoming friendship
That comes so easily to kids
As they simply color together.
.
It brings to mind my friends
And the easiness of time spent
Simply playing with my girls
Or watching a rented movie
0r jamming to Rockband.
.
Such friendships are valuable
And feed my love language,
For I often crave quality time.
I take time to say Thank you God
For all the friends in my life.
